ORPHAN NATION

According to USAID, there are 163 million orphans in the world today which, taken together, would make them the 7th largest nation on earth. In Russia alone, there are an estimated 2.5 million orphans and abandoned children living in the cold streets, under manhole covers and in sewers, forests, or wherever they can find shelter against the elements.

Our earliest humanitarian relief efforts included shipments of donated vegetable seeds and vitamins to impoverished churches and orphanages throughout the former Soviet Union. We are a founding member of the CoMission for Children at Risk International, an action-based coalition of western organizations who assist orphaned children.

Today we continue to come alongside organizations such as Peter Deyneka Russian Ministries and Doorways to Hope who are in country and so desperately need our assistance. We donate fine art reproductions that these ministries use for an income resource.

ARM member artists are also involved in projects giving assistance to widows and orphans in other places as well, such as Open Door Mission out of England ministering in Africa to destitute widows by giving them a piglet or a goat. Such a small thing makes such a big change in a life. It's what the Bible calls true religion.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

James 1:27
